M/T Elixir collision incident

Product Shipping and Trading S.A. reports that a vessel under their management, the M/T ELIXIR (IMO No 9282510), was involved in a collision on 19 October, 2015 with a barge, the M/T TANK (IMO No 8681460), in international waters approximately 65nm off the Nigerian coast. Since 19 October the master of the M/T ELIXIR has been serving as the on-scene commander for search and rescue operations. Of the 12 crewman believed to have been on board the M/T TANK, three of its crewmen have been rescued and one body has been recovered by the M/T ELIXIR, which has been turned over to local authorities. 
As part of the investigation initiated by the Nigerian Maritime Administration & Safety Agency (NIMASA), the M/T ELIXIR has been detained until the investigation is completed. 
There is no imminent danger to the safety of the M/T ELIXIR, its crew, or to the environment.

 Product Shipping and Trading S.A. has activated its emergency response plan and is cooperating with NIMASA.
